Lady Captain 2008
This years Lady Captain is Elaine Stubbs. Update to be provided.
Handicap Matters
There has been a change to the handicap system this year. Qualifying competitions played at away courses will now have the Rule 19.8 adjustment applied for handicap purposes only. It is important that you give details to the handicap committee of any qualifiers you play at away courses and submit a copy of your card. Your handicap can increase or decrease immediately after playing in a qualifying competition and it is your responsibility to notify the handicap committee as soon as possible.

HANDICAP CERTIFICATES
There is a sheet on the board in the locker room for you to add your name if you require a handicap certificate. This will then be left for you on the notice board or in the Pro Shop. If you require a certificate urgently please contact one of the Handicap Committee by telephone (See list above)
TO OBTAIN A HANDICAP
To obtain a handicap at Wychwood Park Golf Club four cards must be returned which must be marked by a golfer with a current handicap and the rounds must be played at Wychwood Park.
The Handicap Committee will assess scores and decide if a handicap is to be awarded or if more cards are required.
If you would like obtain a handicap please contact one of the ladies below and we can arrange for someone to go round with you to mark your cards.
ALLOTMENT OF HANDICAPS
To obtain a handicap for the first time:
4 cards must be returned. The marker must be a golfer with a current handicap.
Cards must be completed at Wychwood Park.
Player must hole-out and record total number of shots on ALL holes
Handicap Committee will review all cards submitted, assess scores and decide if a handicap is to be awarded or if more cards are required.
HANDICAP MAINTENANCE
Stroke Play Qualifying Competitions
Players must hole out at every hole, however if the total number of shots results in a nett double bogey or more a double bogey will be awarded (Clause 19.8).
e.g.
· Player with a handicap of 36 has an 11 at a par 3
· Par 3 + Stableford allowance 2 = 5
Therefore 5 would be for a par (in Stableford 2 points)
6 would be a bogey (in Stableford 1 point)
7 would be a double bogey (0 in Stableford points)
The 11 is reduced to a 7 for handicap purposes.
This will reduce the distortion of a round by a bad hole / holes
THIS SYSTEM IS APPLIED TO ALL QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS PLAYED AT HOME AND AWAY.
Stableford Competitions
No change
PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO THEIR HANDICAP
The player:
Must have only 1 handicap which is allotted and adjusted by her Home Club. If a player is a member of more than 1 club she must select one as her Home Club and notify that club and all others of her choice
Cannot change her Home Club except by giving advance notice of the change. Normally this can only take place at the end of each calendar year end unless both clubs agree to the change taking place at an earlier date
Must report to any other Affiliated clubs, of which she is a member, any alteration in her Playing Handicap made by her Home Club
Must check her Playing Handicap before taking part in any Competition at her Home or Away Club. There will be no more monthly revisions of handicap, handicaps will increase or decrease as necessary immediately after each competition
Must ensure that before competing in a Qualifying Competition her name is on the competition entry list, she must also sign either the competition book or sign-in on the computer before starting her round
Must ensure her card is clearly marked with Name, Date, Competition details, Tee time, and current playing Handicap. (In a Stableford Competition it is often helpful to mark those holes where she receives shots)
When she has stated her intention to play in a Competition or Team Event, she MUST notify her playing partners and the organiser if she is unable to attend. Failure to do so may result in a 3 match ban
On the day of the competition, must be on the tee at least 10 minutes before her allotted tee time
If she wishes to play in a competition which has already been closed (removed from the board) must contact the competition organiser to ascertain if there are any free places. If she "turns up on the day" she cannot automatically expect to take part in the competition
On completion of her round, must ensure her card is checked and signed by her marker and herself. When marking her partners cards always keep a note of her own score in the space provided as a double check
Must ensure ALL Qualifying Competition score cards are returned, even incomplete ones
Must report to her Home Club, as soon as possible, ALL scores (including no returns) for qualifying competitions played away from home.
The information required is:
Date, Venue, Standard Scratch, Competition Scratch
After a stroke play competition
Gross score and any holes where the 19.8 adjustmentapplies (ie where gross score is more than a double bogey
After a Stableford competition
The par for the course and number of points scored
Ideally a copy of the score card should be given to a member of the ladies handicap committee or placed in box in the locker room but if this is not possible it can be done by telephone to one of the handicap secretaries but all the above details must be known
FAILURE TO GIVE THIS INFORMATION CAN LEAD TO HANDICAP SUSPENSION
