Latest news; on and off the course
JULY 2010
Club Championship
This years Club Championship saw two days of punishment for most members who entered, playing off the Blue tees was difficult to say the least, but some good performances were in evidence with Jason Timis leading at the halfway stage with a 74. The cut was made at 90 and the top 32 went out in reverse order with Jason repeating his first round 74 for a 148 total. Mike Harrington who had a fine 70 to go with his first round 80 was second.
The Handicap Cup was won by Tony Welburn with Kristian Clowes in runner up spot.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and managed to complete the 36 holes intact!!!
JUNE 2010
Joint Captains Day Winners
A fantastic day was enjoyed by over 100 Gents and Lady members on Saturday 5th June with the first group setting out at 7:30am and the last finishing at 7:30pm. The weather was perfect, course was in as best condition as possible and the course was, for once, possible beaten. Nearly 40 of the gents scored 36 points or more with the winning core of 42 points from Ian Ellis. Gary Leese was 2nd with 41 points on count back from Geoff Marchant.
The Ladies event was won by Emma Szymura with a Ladies Course record of 76.
Paul and Elaine would like to thank everyone who supported the day and the "Hope for Heroes" Charity.
Off to Pastures New!
Our Handicap Secretary, Wes Jones is moving out of the area and will be leaving the club in the next week or so.
I would like to thank Wes for his hard work since taking on the role of handicap secretary and helping with this website and for providing many moments of entertainment on and off the golf course.
Best of luck for the future and don't forget to get back for the opens and invitations!
We have managed to secure the services of Paul Stubbs to take over from Wes, so he will hopefully take great pleasure in helping you to manage your handicaps!!!
At last.......a Vice Captain
After an exhaustive search and tough selection process, I am happy to announce that we have appointed a Vice Captain for 2010 and obviously the captain Elect for 2011.
Martin Wainman has agreed to step forward for the role and I am already looking forward to working with him for the remainder of my tenure as Captain and to support him through to the commencement of his year!
For those of you who don't currently know Martin....................you will soon!!!
